He was predeceased by: his parents, Leslie L. Ellis and Dorothy R. Gilliam; and his brother Tilman Ellis. He is survived by: his wife Patti Ellis; his children, Daniel L. Ellis, Jason M. Ellis (Nicole) and Sherri L. Dial (Randy); his grandchildren, Amanda Funderburk (Jason), Crissy Clark (Charlie), Mercedes Ellis, Caiden Ellis, Ellis, Caleb Ellis and Xavier Ellis; and his great grandchildren, Eric Funderburk, Aniston Funderburk, Carysn Clark and Hattie Proffitt.
In memory of Donald, and in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
