He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis William Wegener and Ruth Ellen Andersen; his wife Carroll Mae; his son William Jr.; his brother Thomas Allen Wegener; and his close friend Dorothy "Dot" Smith.
He is survived by: his sister-in-law Cindy Wegener; and his nephews, Allen (Elena), Louis (April) and Fredrick Wegener (Heather). He is also survived by numerous extended family members and friends.
Visitation was held on Monday, November 10th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Standefer-Reed Funeral Home (50 May Rd, Dunlap, TN 37327). A funeral service was held on Monday, November 10th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the same location.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Cagle Community Service Center, 8208 State Route 8, Dunlap, TN 37327; or to the Wounded Warrior Project.
