“It is with deep sorrow that I hear of Johnny’s passing. We were both survivors of polio at the same time and both trumpet players at Watson Chapel. Johnny was a miracle boy because the doctors said he wouldn’t survive polio and then that he would never walk without braces again. He was such a fighter, he proved them all wrong on all counts. I lived across the street from him and his brothers and We played together every day. I only earlier today found out about his Brother Herbie and Bill”
