He was predeceased by: his parents, Murray Freeman Smith and Betty Jean White Smith; and his granddaughter Megen Wells. He is survived by: his wife Anita L. Barker Smith of Dyersburg, Tennessee; his children, Chris Smith (Jennifer) of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Pam Sexton (Brad) of Dyersburg, Penny Runions of Dyersburg and Tracy Lee (Michael) of Dyersburg, Tennessee; and his siblings, Jimmy Smith (Teresa) of Finley, James Freeman Smith of Lebanon, Johnny Cole of Halls, Tennessee, Judy Holt (Lloyd) of Newbern, Kathy Craig (Dalton) of Newbern, Lucianna Smith (John) of Halls and Conasaga Wilder (Scott) of Halls. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
