He was predeceased by: his parents, William Henley Nicks and Thelma Jean Pitts Palmer; his wife Lori Jean Reed Nicks; his son Johnathan David Nicks; and his brother Lewis Barton "Bart" Palmer.
He is survived by: his son Michael Lynn Nicks (Emily) of Dyersburg, Tennessee; his sister Vicki Nicks of Dyersburg, Tennessee; his stepmother Jo Nicks of Newbern, Tennessee; his stepbrothers, Tommy Wright (Carla) of Newbern and Harold Wright of Newbern, Tennessee; and his nieces, Stacey Cowles Wright (Justin) of Dyersburg and Lindsay Davis (Mark) of Thompson Station, Tennessee. He is also survived by two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
