He was predeceased by: his parents, John Hensley and Birdie Holcomb Hensley; the mother of his children Dula Hensley; and his granddaughter Linnea. He is survived by: his children, Chris Hensley (Crystal), Leslie Markland (Penny), Kenneth Markland (Tammy), Teresa Creek (Ruben) and Debbie Shaffer (John); his grandchildren, Anastasia, Rhiannon, Sara, John, Ashton, Cameron, Christopher, Taylor, Josh, Zac, Drew and Allie; his great grandchild Barrett Sutherland; his sister Joyce Scott; his close friends, B. J. McKinny, Paul Shouse, Sam and Mabel Rogers; his sister Evelyn Johnson; and his brother-in-law Roger Winters.
Visitation was held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Chapel of Peace - Tetrick Funeral Home (211 N Riverside Dr, Elizabethton, TN 37643). A funeral service was held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Happy Valley Memorial Park (2708 Elizabethton Hwy, Johnson City, TN 37601).
