He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilma Birkner and Mike Birkner; his son David P. Birkner, Jr.; his sister Peggy Birkner; his grandparents, Jacob, Nellie Ternigan, Elizabeth and George Birkner; and his aunts and uncles, Gracie, Fritz Donatelli, Katherine and Fran Ternigan.
He is survived by: his wife Carol; his daughter Jill McKouar; and his siblings, Lynne Hamilton (Jack) and Dan Birkner (Alyce). He is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
