It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ethel Edith Barnett (Elizabethton, Tennessee), who passed away on August 22, 2020, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Henry Russell and Kate Scalf Russell; her husband Foyster Barnett; her daughter Sonia; and her grandson David Barnett.

She is survived by: her sons, Mike Barnett (Judy) of Elizabethton and Tim Barnett (Dana) of Elizabethton; her grandsons, Dale Barnett (Hope) of Elizabethton, Mark Barnett of Elizabethton and Foyster Barnett of Elizabethton; her great grandchildren, Destinee Richardson of Fort Drum, NY, Katie Barnett of Elizabethton and Laken Barnett of Elizabethton; her great great grandchildren, Ryder and Paislee; her stepgrandchildren, Jessica Hurd and Jeremy Hunt; her stepgreat-granddaughters, Kayden and Emerie Hurd; and her close friends, Mae Campbell, Trina Paty and Marlene Scott.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Carter County is mandating that all citizens who live in or visit Carter County wear masks in public. In keeping in accordance with this mandate, all visitors to the visitation or the graveside service are required to wear a mask or facial covering.

She was a member of Charity Hill Free Will Baptist Church and she loved to work in her flowers and more than anything she loved her family.
