He was predeceased by: his parents, Gurney E. Thomas and Helen Treadway Thomas; his siblings, Phyllis Thomas Taylor, Charles Stuart and Tony Keith Taylor; his grandparents, John H., Ina Nidiffer Treadway, C. K. and Hatie Wilson Thomas Miller; and his nephews, Kenneth Thomas and Christopher Taylor.
He is survived by: his children, Wendy Thomas Childress (Michael) of Gray and Michael Thomas (Michelle) of Elizabethton; his stepchildren, Chris Roberson of Elizabethton and Rebecca Roberson Street of Elizabethton; his grandchildren, Whitney Landress, Courtney Towle, Brent Thomas (Karissa), Brittany Thomas Rutz (Cory), Michaela Thomas (Caleb), Christine "Cricket" Roberson and Jacob Street; his great grandchild Sebastian Landress; his brothers, Edward Thomas (Edna) and James "Jim" Taylor; and his siblings-in-law, Kathleen Thomas Carden, Diane Coleman Shell (Andrew), Ruth "Blossom" Coleman and Frankie Coleman (Devonna). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
