He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer B. Sams, Sr. and Pearl Humphrey Sams; his brother Terry Sams; and his son Stacy Sams. He is survived by: his wife Sonja Sams; his son Kevin Sams (Elaine) of Murfreesboro, TN; his grandchildren, Ashley Davis (Keaton) of Murfreesboro, TN, Patrick Sams (Abby) of Lansing, NY and Alex Sams of Murfreesboro, TN; his brothers, B. J. Sams of Little Rock, AR and Elmer Sams, Jr. (Frances) of Elizabethton, TN; his sisters-in-law, Kathryn Young of Bristol, TN and Shirlene Sams of North Augusta, SC; his friend Katrina Nidiffer; and his caregiver Wanda Turner.
