He was predeceased by: his parents, Christopher Honaker Orfield and Sally Dunn Orfield; his wife Glenna Orfield; his siblings, C. H. Orfield and Louise Richter; and his stepson Allen Thomason.
He is survived by: his children, Sherry Hicks of Kingsport, Margaret Ryans (Larry) of Kingsport, Billie Grindstaff of Murfreesboro and Bob Orfield (Vicki) of Georgia; and his stepdaughters, Frances Salyer, Glenna Clark and Sharon Thomason. He is also survived by several step-grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
