He was predeceased by: his sisters, Joyce Hendrix and Phyllis Orr (John); his nephew Todd Mckeehan; and his parents, Leon Hendrix and Aleta Smalling Hendrix.

He is survived by: his wife Eileen Hampton Hendrix; his son Chad (Anne); his grandson Hugo; his siblings, Judy Clark (Bob) of Johnson City, Jane McKeehan (Tony) of Johnson City and Wayne Hendrix (Lisa) of Richmond, VA; and his sister-in-law Brenda Pearson (Keith). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Central Community Christian Church or Central Volunteer Fire Department, reflecting Jerry's lifelong commitment to service and community.
