He was predeceased by: his parents, Stewart Robert Simerly and Florence Louise McDonnell (Potter); and his wife Laura Kay Simerly (Biddix). He is survived by: his sons, Christopher Stuart Simerly (Christine Harmon) and Roger Scott Shore; his grandchildren, Alex Shore and Harper Simerly; and his siblings, Lois Bradley-Tripp (Robert Tripp), Nancy O'Connor (Chris O'Connor) and Kevin McDonnell. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews; and many cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Carter County Animal Shelter in Jess's memory, honoring his lifelong love of animals.
