He is survived by: his wife Lucy Peters Shankles; his sons, Kirk Shankles (Jeanne) of Elizabethton and Drew Shankles of Detroit, Michigan.; his grandchildren, Maggie Shankles of Elizabethton and Corporal Wesley Shankles; and his family, Norman, Joyce Peters, Buford and Sherry Peters.
