He was predeceased by: his parents, George "Champ" Montgomery and Anna Mae Heaton Montgomery; and his brothers, Ernest Montgomery and James Roscoe Montgomery. He is survived by: his wife Betty Montgomery (Jenkins); his children, Jeff Montgomery (Margaret) of Johnson City and Tina Whitehead (David) of Elizabethton; his grandchildren, Whitney Buckles (Logan) and Josh Hyatt; his great grandchild Luke Buckles; his sister Marie Moody of Blowing Rock, NC; and his sisters-in-law, Jean Montgomery of Elizabethton and Nell Jenkins of Elizabethton.
