She was predeceased by: her parents, Alvin E Hicks and Orla Holtsclaw Hicks; her husband Richard Barrie; her daughter Stephanie Walz; her siblings, Dewey Hicks, Elbert Hicks, Elva Vines, Nolamae Cook and Eula Jean Hicks; and her aunt Inez Ray.
She is survived by: her children, Kim Brown of Johnson City, TN and Jamie Barrie (Maggie) of Ooltewah, TN; her stepdaughter Dawn Teetrick of Denham Springs, LA; her grandchildren, Madison Brown, Breighana Nolan, Kara Street (Jacob), Scout Walz and Reed Barrie; her great grandchildren, Quinn, Olive Street and Rowan Ruth Hosie; and her sisters, Ruby Bennett, Carrie Keene and Edna Thomas. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, June 1st 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Happy Valley Memorial Park (2708 Elizabethton Hwy, Johnson City, TN 37601).
In lieu of flowers Ruth requested donations be made to TLC Community Center, 145 Judge Don.
