He was predeceased by: his siblings, Zella Clark, Greta Frazier, Roger and Mack Smith. He is survived by: his wife Irene Smith; his children, Karen Estep (Mike) of Elizabethton and Randy Smith (Janette) of Elizabethton; his grandchildren, Kristi Hyder, Ethan Estep, Tyler and Chase Smith; his great grandchild Trevor Hyder; and his sister Mary Pierce. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews and cousins and extended family and friends.
