He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Virgil Dykes and Gladys Marie White Dykes; his wife Patsy Carol Mathis Dykes; and his siblings, Barbara Jenkins and Ralph "Gerald" Dykes (Dorothy).
He is survived by: his son Christopher; his daughter-in-law Heather Dykes of Elizabethton; his brother-in-law Danny Jenkins of Virginia; his granddaughter Paiyton Dykes of Elizabethton; and his siblings-in-law, Mickey Mathis (Deb), Barry Mathis (Kay), Brenda Bare (Glen), Penny Fenner (Billy) and Sue Mathis. He is also survived by Several nieces, nephews and other extended family.
He was a founding member of Buccaneer Football and Friend Foundation and the Elizabethton Soccer Association.
