He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Roosevelt Vann Sr. and Betty Pearl Tallent Vann; his wife Judy Dyson Vann; and his son Matthew. He is survived by: his daughters, Celissa Dykes (Marcus) of Elizabethton and Jordan McMahan (Brian) of Elizabethton; and his grandchildren, Brittany Hansford of Elizabethton, Chelsea Vann of Kingsport, Ashley McDavid of Elizabethton and Janessa McMahan of Elizabethton. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
