He was predeceased by: his father Earl Birchfield; and his brother David Birchfield. He is survived by: his mother Burma Perkins Birchfield; his children, Rachel Hill, Mary Jenkins (Travis), David Johnson (Carolyn) and Tiffany Cole (Kenneth); his siblings, Cynthia Shell, Dennis Birchfield and Daniel Birchfield; and his close friend Pamela Vanzant. He is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, and many, many friends.
For those that prefer memorials in lieu of flowers the family has asked donations to be made to St. Jude's Research Hospital or the Susan B. Coleman Cancer Center.
