He was predeceased by : his parents, John Young and Mary Nell Isbill Young; his brothers, Bruce and Melvin Young; and his siblings-in-law, Doug Whitener, Brenda Torbett Young and Margaret Bowers Young.

He is survived by : his wife Patricia Whitener Young; his brothers, Gene Young of Etowah, Reece (Robin Young), Paul (Becky Young) and Glenn (Louise Young); his granddaughter Megan Young; and his sister-in-law Glenda Whitener (Sue Young). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews.
