He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Armstrong and Elsie Ledford Armstrong; his son-in-law Tommy Clark; and his granddaughter Alisha Clark. He is survived by: his wife Doris McConnell Armstrong; his children, Sharen Ray (David), Karen Clark, Terry Armstrong (Pat) and Doug Armstrong (Melody); his grandchildren, Jessica Miller (Larry), Candace Young (Kevin), Matthew Ray (Jennifer), Adam Ray (Katie), Ryan Armstrong (Christy) and Hailey Gaskin (Tyler); and his great grandchildren, Jayden, Cameron, Addie Miller, Brody, Grayson Young, Maddox, Mason, Reese Ray, Stori Gaskin, Ellis, Truett and Leo Armstrong.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 25th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Smith Funeral & Cremation Service of Athens (1010 S White St, Athens, TN 37303). A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 26th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the McMinn Memory Gardens (1727-1739 Co Rd 560, Athens, TN 37303).
Doris asks that "in lieu of flowers,"memorial contributions be made to Englewood United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 146, Englewood, Tennessee 37329.
