She was predeceased by: her parents, E. P. "Esco" Fender and Alma Phillips Fender; and her brother Larry Fender. She is survived by: her husband Charles Miller; her daughter Cynthia Shuford (Jody) of Canton, NC; her grandchildren, Todd Shuford (Gracie) and Natalie Shuford (Grady Glance); her siblings, Ronal "Ron" Fender of Erwin and Betty Surratt (Jim) of Rutherfordton, NC; her sister-in-law Hannah; and her nieces and nephews, Lane Bailey, Hallie and Kenny Alston. She is also survived by several other nieces and nephews.
