He is survived by: his wife Lou Ellen Smallwood Hester; his children, James "Jim" Hester (Tammy) of Erwin, Jon Hester (Cindy) of Erwin and Laura Hester of Holly, Michigan; and his siblings, Robert Hester (Carolyn), Elizabeth Thompson, Helen Taylor and Carolyn Scarberry (Dennis). He is also survived by five grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
