He was predeceased by : his parents, Oral Clendenen and Bessie Clendenen; and his siblings, Wallace Clendenen, Ray Clendenen, Harry Clendenen, Betty Moses and Nadine Rayburn.

He is survived by : his wife Bobbie Jean Young Clendenen; his son Douglas Mark Clendenen; his grandsons, David Lee Clendenen and Matthew D. Clendenen; and his sister Peggy Clendenen Gaston. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, per Claytons request, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Etowah, P.O. Box 317, Etowah, TN 37331.
