With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Mary L. Pickel of Etowah, Tennessee, who passed away on March 24, 2026 at the age of 85. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Mary L. Pickel to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her daughter Kathy Bazzell; her parents, Jim Bookout and Jackie Bookout; and her brothers, Jimmy and Jackie Bookout.
She is survived by: her daughters, Sherry Berry (George), Celeste Long (Mike) and Katherine Verlene Cox (Harold); her close friend Darwin Hinthorn; her grandchildren, Will Poteet, II, Waylon Poteet, Ryan Cook, Caitlin Stephens and Luke Cox; and her siblings, Tommy Bookout (Judy), Sally Kindle (Rich), Martha Lou Sisson (Vestal), Robert Bookout (Libby) and Blanche Wilson (Chris). She is also survived by several great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Massingale Bookout Cemetery where Mary will be put to rest C/O Judy Bookout PO Box 2, Etowah TN 37331.
