He is survived by: his wife Sharon Hill Sumpter; his children, Beverly Bennett, William Sumpter, Jr. and Michael Sumpter (Greta); his stepchildren, Jason Hill (Lisa) and Kimberly Hill; his grandchildren, Kimberly Mahaffey (Mike), Heather Berry (Shane), Steven Sumpter, Michaela Kelly, Sydney Sumpter, Mackenzie Sumpter and Nick Wayne Sumpter; his stepgrandchildren, Austin Ball, Abigail Hill and Jacob Hill; his great grandchildren, Sevanna, Cameron, Caroline, Carter, Carson, Carissa, Macy, Natalie, Madilyn, Paisley, Braden, Gabriella and Jameson; and his brother-in-law Bill Williams. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
