He was predeceased by: his parents, Dorothy Rebecca Carmicle and James Rufus Buchanan; his spouses, Sharon Strong Buchanan and Jean Sales Buchanan; and his siblings, Yvette Buchanan, Shirley Lyons (Ray), Ricky Travis, Larry Buchanan and Benny Buchanan.
He is survived by: his children, Jason Buchanan, Lashasta'Vette'Buchanan and Amanda Reese (James); his grandchildren, A'Keisha Turner, A'Karia Reese, Ja'Karious Reese, Tyrek Buchanan, Z'Kyha Buchanan, Tai'Shaun Levingston, LaTyus Hadley, Javar Buchanan, Jakyus Buchanan, Kavareas Divens, Kasyn Divens, Alayah Conley and Amya Covey; and his siblings, Gloria Kelso (Stanley), Vicky Buchanan, Joanne Bean (John), Teresa'Gail'Buchanan, Deborah Travis, Wayne Buchanan (Melody), David'Kent' Buchanan (Rena) and Tim Buchanan.
