He is survived by: his wife Mary Jane Copes of Flintville, Tennessee; his siblings, Dottie Ann Bauhof of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Ed Copes of Manchester, Tennessee.; and his children, William Copes III (Kindra) of Elora, Tennessee, Bobbie Jo Copes of Decherd, Tennessee, Wayne Copes (Krista) of Prospect Park, Pennsylvania, Barbie Copes (Ron) of Essington, Pennsylvania, Johnny Copes of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Tina Copes of Spring City, Tennessee and Lisa Amoroso (Danny) of Cape May. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
