He was predeceased by: his parents, Ruby Pearl Garner and J. L. Garner; his former wife Fay Story Garner; his son Marc Andrew Garner; and his grandchildren, Kelsey Garner and Nic Garner.

He is survived by: his wife Brenda H. Garner; his children, Gary O. Garner (Sharon) and Lucie Garner Phillips (Bobby); and his grandsons, Jake Garner (Rachael) and Hayden Phillips. He is also survived by three great-grandsons, other family and friends.
