He was predeceased by: his mother Joyce Lyell; his stepfather Ray Lyell; and his grandparents, William, Edna Gentry, Pat and Emma Nichols.
He is survived by: his significant other Marta McClanahan; his children, Andy Nichols and Emma Nichols; his father Jimmy Nichols; his stepmother Dianne Nichols; his brother Jeffrey Nichols (Roberta); and his sibling's children, Morgan Heckman (Alex) and Joe Nichols.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX.
