She was predeceased by : her parents, John Anderson and Serena McDonald Stephens; her spouse J. L. Miller; her son John Willie Spears (Martha); and her siblings, Wilson Wick Stephens, Billy W. Stephens, Willie Clip Stephens, Addie Lou Emerline, Lillie Davis Moore, Bonnie Ray Garland and Annie Lou Westbrook.

She is survived by : her former life partner Everett Ray Spears; and her children, Eddie Spears (Cathy) of Lumbar, IL, Brenda Vaughn of Centre, AL and Gloria Payne (Mark). She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren and four step great grandchildren.
