He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Savage Dawes (Bill) and Effie Lee Stout Dawes; and his son Benjamen Scott Johnson. He is survived by: his brother Gerald D. Dawes (Jerry); his wife Dale; his daughters, Melissa Beth Dawes of Gainesboro and Jennifer Denise Brown; his grandchildren, Jessica Susette Weaver (Ben) of Cookeville, Kendrick Heagan Brown, Shea Lee Harris and Kain Warren Brown; and his sister Judy Dawes Ragland of Gainesboro.
Visitation was held on Thursday, October 29th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Friday, October 30th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home (2131 S Grundy Quarles Hwy, Gainesboro, TN 38562). A funeral service was held on Friday, October 30th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
