She was predeceased by: her parents, Tracy Wiersama and Nicholas Wiersama; her husband Peter D. Buikema; and her brother-in-law Harold De Groot. She is survived by: her children, Peter B. Buikema (Suzanne), Daniel Buikema (Megan) and Sarah Franklin (Eric); her grandchildren, Colleen, Liam, Camryn, Aidan and Griffin; and her sister Alyce De Groot.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Compassion International.
