He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Chaffin and Edith Chaffin (Skillern); his wife Brenda Milligan Chaffin; his in-laws, Hoyte and Nell Milligan; and his brother James Chaffin (Jim).

He is survived by: his children, Eric Chaffin (Kyndra) and Shannon Starks (Shane); his grandchildren, Jake, Kaylor Chaffin, Connor (Taryn), Abigail and Barrett Starks; his great grandchild Leon Jack Starks; and his sister-in-law Edna Chaffin (Tootsie).
