She was predeceased by: her parents, Dr. Kenneth B. Slifer and Thelma Slifer; her former husband V. Gene Smith; and her husband Carl Eugene Sexton. She is survived by: her daughter Gina Lynn Gallup (Stephen); and her stepchildren, Carla Jeanne Guilfoyle (Terry), Jeffrey Alan Sexton (Michele), Carolyn Rae Horjus (Pete) and Marilyn Kay Johnson (Kenric). She is also survived by many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In honor of Marita Smith Sexton, donations may be made to Worship Ministries, Nashville First Church of the Nazarene, 510 Woodland St., Nashville, TN 37206.
