He was predeceased by: his parents, J. B. Slayton and Willie Ann Slayton; and his siblings, Bobbie Slayton, Faye Troutt, Judy Bradley and Linda Manning.
He is survived by: his wife Jo Ann Shults Slayton; his sons, Travis Slayton (Becky) of Roebuck and Kevin Slayton (Candice) of Gallatin, Tennessee; and his grandchildren, Hoster Slayton, Audrey Slayton, Aubrey Jones, Emory Jones and Emily Jones.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
