He was predeceased by: his parents, Arlington Smith and Pearl Smith; his wife Pauline Howell Smith; his daughter Tonya Moore; his grandchild Lacshell Scaife; and his siblings, Junior Smith, Red Smith, Pearlie Crider and Louise O'Neal.
He is survived by: his son Tim Hawkins (Philip) of Gallatin, Tennessee; and his grandchildren, T. J. Hawkins (Kayla), Travis Hawkins (Brooklyn), Brandon Moore (Marcie), Derek Moore (Donna) and Paula Humphrey. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.
