With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Herbert Ray Matheny of Gallaway, Tennessee, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 26, 2025 at the age of 76. As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though Herbert may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the echoes of his kindness, the warmth of his embrace, and the light of his enduring love.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Matheny and Hazel Matheny; and his siblings, Mary Opal Matheny, Ben Matheny, Charlie Matheny, Ronnie Matheny and Bobby Matheny.
He is survived by: his children, Michelle Matheny Rankins of Horn Lake, Mississippi, Mike Matheny (Barbara) of Horn Lake, Matt Matheny of Horn Lake and Ray Matheny, Jr. of Horn Lake; and his sisters, Adrian Goff of Somerville and Faye Hoskins of Ripley, Tennessee. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren; and twelve great- grandchildren.
