He was predeceased by: his parents, William L. Garner, Jr. and Cecil A. Garner; his brother Arthur B. Garner; his former wife Gwendy Britt Garner; and his son William L. Garner, IV.
He is survived by: his wife Ann Stuart Garner; his sons, Russ Garner (Jenny) and Jeff Garner (Nancy); his daughter-in-law Elizabeth Garner; his stepsons, Bryan Hornsby (Gena) and Stuart Hornsby (Alayna); and his grandchildren, Megan Gregory (Jeremy), Becky Dedeau (Josh), Will Garner, Kelly Johnson (Joe), Rachael Hankins (Luke), Jamie Laguarta (Julio), Russell Garner (Heather), Jessica Olin (Ryan), Justin Garner (Jules), Andrew Hornsby, Carson Hornsby (Olivia), Meredith Anne Hornsby, Victoria Hornsby, John Hornsby, William Hornsby and Kathryn Hornsby.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 9th 2025 from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM at the Second Presbyterian Church (4055 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN 38111). A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 9th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Memphis Union Mission.
