He was predeceased by: his parents, Gabriel Inness and Angela Joan Palumbo Inness; and his brothers, Jimmy and Gabriel Inness. He is survived by: his wife Mary A. Garcia Inness of Grandview, Tennessee; his children, Stephen Inness of Grandview and Sara Gregg (Jorel) of West Richland, Washington; his grandson Kalel Randall Gregg; and his siblings, Joan Reynolds (Rich) of Sherman, Connecticut and Mitchell Inness (Linda) of Alabama.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be given to the Rhea County Animal Shelter Alliance, 9118 Back Valley Road, Evensville, Tennessee 37332 in his memory.
