He was predeceased by: his parents, Woodrow Wilson and Sylvia Stallard Sutherland; his brother Ray Sutherland; his brother-in-law Troy Holbrook; and his great grandchild Boston Reed.
He is survived by: his wife Janice Holbrook Sutherland; his children, Gail Stoops (Dale) of Gray, TN and Mike Sutherland (Debbie) of Johnson City, TN.; his grandchildren, Stefanie Gustafson (Jeff) of Chesapeake, VA, Garrett Reed of Chesapeake, VA, Heather Butler (Brett) of Limestone, TN and Grant Sutherland (Laura) of Johnson City, TN.; his great grandchildren, Corbin, Brayden, Jocelyn, Brooklyn, London, Eden, Wyatt, Wilson, Heidi, Lucy, Ridge and Hadley; his siblings, Pete Sutherland (Ruth), Libby Holbrook (Joe) and Bob; and his sisters-in-law, Lyda Holbrook, Joy Rudder and Sue Sutherland.
Visitation was held on Saturday, May 31st 2025 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Appalachian Funeral Home & Cremation Services (800 E Watauga Ave, Johnson City, TN 37601). A funeral service was held on Saturday, May 31st 2025 at 4:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Saturday, May 31st 2025 at 5:00 PM at the Gray Cemetery (2203 Maple Dr, Gray, TN 37615).
