He was predeceased by : his parents, Charles Ervin and Mary Sligar Shepard; and his brothers, Lyons, Kenneth and Randy.

He is survived by : his wife Janet Shepard; his daughters, Cherie Doyle, Angie Williams (Trey) and Natalie Norris (Robbie); his siblings, Roger Shepard (June), Dawn Cox, Yvonne Leonard and Ann Cunningham; and his sister-in-law Diana Shepard. He is also survived by grandchildren, eight great grandchildren.
