He was predeceased by: his parents, Loyd Petty and Geraldine Petty; his sister Faye; his brother-in-law Harrison Spires; his sister Carolyn McNeilly Russell; and his parents-in-law, Ray and Nina Lemons.
He is survived by: his wife Martha Petty; his daughter Angie; his son-in-law Kevin Tipton; his daughter Suzanne Petty; his granddaughters, Megan and Emily Tipton; and his brother-in-law J. H. Russell. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
