He was predeceased by : his former life partner Becky; his parents, Otis Yates and Sally Yates; his sister Odessa Ritchey; and his brothers-in-law, Tommy Haun and Bryant Watson.

He is survived by : his wife Eddie Haun Yates; his daughter Courtney; his son-in-law Brian Coada of Greenback; his son Marty; his daughter-in-law Kristi Yates of Walland; his grandchildren, Dalton, Dillon, Breezy Coada of Greenback, Lendi, Andrew Eldridge, Lee and Landry Yates of Walland; his stepchildren, Tonya, Ryan Wilson of Johnson City and Trent Henry of Nashville; his stepgrandchildren, Chloe and Butler Smith of Johnson City; his sister Yvonne Watson of Greenback; and his siblings-in-law, Ann, Wade McCamey of Greenville and Frankie Ritchey of Vonore.
