He was predeceased by: his parents, George E. Mathews and Lois "Jeanette" Mathews. He is survived by: his wife Karen Mathews (Marshall); his children, April Lane (Harmon) of Greeneville, Laura Rearick of Muncy and Chris Mathews of Richmond, Indiana.; his sister Jan; his brother-in-law Doug Katz of Richmond; his grandchildren, Ashley, Austin, Jessica, Tristan, Jordan, Taylor and Lacey; his nephews, Tarkus Katz of Richmond and Errol Katz of Indianapolis, Indiana.; and his parents-in-law, Kenneth and Dorothy Marshall.
A graveside service was held on Saturday, July 12th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Greenelawn Memory Gardens (4159 Asheville Hwy, Greeneville, TN 37743).
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Greeneville/ Greene County Humane Society in his memory.
