He was predeceased by: his parents, George Garland and Ruth Hensley Garland; his wife Janice Lucille Garland; and his brothers, Charles Garland and Carmen Garland.

He is survived by: his sons, Dustin Garland of Chuckey, Mark Garland of Chuckey and Eric Garland of Chuckey; his grandchildren, Ashton Garland and Destiny Osborne; his great grandchildren, Evi Garland and Christopher Cochran; and his siblings, Glen Garland (Wanda) and Diane Silvers. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home (418 W College St, Jonesborough, TN 37659).
