He was predeceased by: his parents, Lula Brown and Clifford Brown. He is survived by: his children, Teresa Massongill (Monte) of Olive Branch, MS, Ronnie Brown (Renee) of Surgoinsville, TN and Ginia Johnston (Brad) of Greeneville; his grandchildren, Christina Anderson (Landon), Patrick Johnston (Ashley), Monte Massongill (Logan), Hayden Johnston (Brittani), Anna Teetz (Logan), Alyssa Johnston and Halston Brown; his brother John Brown (Shirley); his sisters-in-law, Sue Brown (Jim) and Debbie Eskew (Travis); his significant other Patricia Brown; his son Jimmy Brown; and his sisters, Helen Gammon (Ed), Wanda Grills (Fred) and Margaret Kinser (Buddy). He is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and beloved family friends.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or plant a tree in Mr. Brown's memory at the Arbor Day Foundation.
