He was predeceased by: his siblings, Opal "Cookie" Tolliver, Lloyd "Horsefly" Smelcer, Coy Smelcer, Boby Joe Williams and Ray Smelcer; and his sister-in-law Karen Smelcer.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Smelcer; his daughter Tammy Welborn (Andy); his granddaughter Lynn Welborn; his stepdaughter Faye Helton (Eric); and his stepgrandson Parker Helton.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 26th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the St. Joseph Chapel FWB Church (790 McDonald Rd, Midway, TN 37809). A memorial service was held on Friday, September 26th 2025 at 6:00 PM at the same location.
