She was predeceased by: her parents, Sam Purkey and Mary Purkey; her son Dewey Johnson; her grandson David Allen Johnson; her great grandchild Sarah Cameron; and her siblings, Kenneth Purkey, Wanda Purkey, Shirley Ward, Ann Williams, Sue Bryan, Dewey Purkey, Hugh Purkey and Dot Holt.

She is survived by: her husband Donald "Don" Sams; her children, Susie Holt (Aaron), Faye McSwain (Clifford) and Sammy Johnson; her siblings, Ronnie Dale Purkey (Diane) and Patricia Gail Holt (Jeff); and her close friends, Bill, Jenny Williams, Danny, Glenda Clark, Bob, Holly Hermans, Bobby, Joyce Couch and Erich Hicks.
